As your child prepares for secondary school, you will be all too aware this milestone brings them one step closer to adulthood.
In today’s modern age however many children are faced with decisions they may not always fully understand.
‘Choices for Life’ aims to help equip children with the right information so they can make the right choices at the right time.
‘Choices for Life’ is an information programme around different substances including some illegal drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Supporting materials are provided to schools to complement work already ongoing and to act as discussion points around what pupils will see and hear at the event.
The programme is made up in three parts:
Part 1- in the classroom before attending the event
Pupils have the opportunity to discuss issues around alcohol and drugs as well as peer pressure.
Part 2 – the main event at SECC Glasgow, Royal Highland Centre Edinburgh, AECC Aberdeen or Inverness Leisure Centre
A multi media show including music, live drama and a quiz.
Part 3 – in the classroom after the event
All issues raised at Choices for Life are discussed in more detail and the focus is very much around healthy and positive lifestyle choices.
It’s not always easy for parents to speak to their children about the dangers of drugs. If you need more information we have included some links to booklets that you can view online or download.
